Close to 25,000 Experiencing Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Weather Systems
Nearly 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast were left lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events impacted the state, bringing powerful gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Damage
Homeowners witnessed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts announced that different parts across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units deployed to manage the extensive power failures.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
At the same time, nearly one thousand residents in the southern state also experienced power outages after the capital city recorded its wettest day in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams received nearly 600 emergency reports across the region, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

At the height on yesterday, over 28,000 power users in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across various areas of both areas.

Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
